St. Anne’s wins People’s Choice Award in Upcycle Throwdown
St. Anne’s Senior Community Center won the People’s Choice Award for their entry “Catch the Spirit” in the Spirit Upcycled Art Competition.
This event was sponsored by the Spirit Newspapers. All entries had to incorporate Spirit newspapers as the primary medium to create something new. The center’s artists and crafters have been busy working on the entries. The first is a mixed-medium sculpture garden entitled “Catch the Spirit.” This creation is a group project and includes: flowers made from newspapers and syrofoam egg cartons, decoupage newspaper vase, and a toadstool sculpture made in the Clay Creations class. A special feature in the design are the palm leaves, representing the “Spirit of St. Anne’s.” The second is an entry by one artist, a painting entitled ” Lighten Up” featuring a mat border and the wreath made from Spirit newspapers.
