Intergenerational Healthy Eating Mural Project: “A Vision Becomes a Reality”

This summer, St. Anne’s Senior Community Center’s collaborated with Greensgrow Farms and new community partner, Portside Arts Center, to work on the intergenerational healthy eating mural project. St. Anne’s artists mentored twenty-four children, ages 8-12, from Portside’s day camp program. The project began with a visit to Greensgrow to begin the sketching process. The design included veggies, flowers and farm animals, including “Milkshake” the pig. The group met weekly at the senior center to sketch and paint the murals on parachute cloth.  The murals were installed in November by Portside staff, reflecting the beauty of the garden and the creativity and cooperation of the younger and older members of our community. The murals will be dedicated in memory of  Mary Seton Corboy, the founder of Greensgrow Farms. Stay tuned for information on a Dedication Event!
