Celebrating 10 Years of Service to Seniors

Lillian has been serving elderly parishioners of Saint Monica Parish since 2007.  Lillian visits her clients, whom she fondly calls “my ladies” or “my gentlemen”, on a weekly basis, assisting them with chores such as linen changes, laundry, neighborhood errands, and escorting to medical appointments.  Most of all, Lillian’s friendly demeanor and upbeat personality is often the bright spot of her clients’ week.  To quote on of her clients, “Even if I’m having a bad day, when Lillian comes through the door, saying ‘How ya doin’ today, girlfriend?’, I know that my day is going to be all right.”  Lillian feels that she benefits just as much from her work as the clients do. In her own words, “It has been my blessing to work with the Eldercare Program at Saint Monica Parish.  I feel that I benefit from the Program more than the clients do.  I learn so much from them.”

We at Catholic Housing and Community Services are incredibly grateful for the service and dedication of Lillian and staff at St. Monica.
