Catholic Housing and Community Services Receives $35,000 Grant From Catholic Charities USA

Catholic Housing and Community Services has received a $35,000 grant from Catholic Charities USA.  The funds are available through the Walmart Foundation, as part of a nationwide effort to address hunger.

The grant money is used to assist seniors in applying for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (formerly referred to as food stamps).  Thanks to the Walmart Foundation and Catholic Charities USA we are able to offer assistance in neighborhood and parish centers.  Through Catholic Housing and Community Services, case managers in our senior centers and in the parishes, are able to make screen applicants to determine eligibility, and help apply for benefits on line.  This outreach effort is a true benefit to seniors who find it difficult to visit their County Assistance Office.

For information about applying for SNAP please visit one of our senior centers or parish outreach sites.  You may obtain information through our Senior Helpline by calling 1-888-679-7669.
